With the colossal success of Dabangg, filmmakers and renowned thespians have noticed the villainous swagger that Sonu Sood possesses on screen. One such actor to take notice is superstar Rajinikanth.
According to our sources, after Rajinikanth saw Sonu as Cheddi Singh in Dabangg and Pashupati in the Tamil hit, Arundhati and was very impressed with his negative roles. So, he soon cast him in the much-coveted negative role for his Hindi-Tamil-Telugu trilingual film Rana.
Rana is slated to be a period-action film, based on the lines of the famous Hollywood blockbuster 300. Directed by KS Ravi Kumar, who also made projects like Muthu and Narasimha, the film is to be shot in India and abroad. It will also include foreign technicians.
Hyped at being the most expensive Indian film ever made, the film is being co-produced by Eros International and Ocher Studios, the production house run by Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya. Deepika Padukone has been drafted as the leading lady for the film, while AR Rahman will compose its music. Ratnavelu of Robot fame will return as cinematographer for the trilingual film.
Good news is that Rajini’s Raana unlike his previous films will not be dubbed into Hindi and Telugu but instead will be shot simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. The bigger surprise here comes as Rajini has accepted to dub his own voice in the Hindi version of the film too. It is notable that Rajini has dubbed only in Tamil has refused to dub when his movies are dubbed in to other languages and so different voices have been used.

Superstar Rajinikanth`s Raana directed by KS Ravikumar will be partly be shot in London. The cinematographer of the film Rathnavelu has told a newspaper details about the film. The film is to be made in three languages; Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, with Rajinikanth himself dubbing in all the three languages. Rajinikanth plays three roles in the film including that of the villain. Deepika Padukone will be one of the three heroines. Asin and Anushka are also likely to be roped in to play heroine opposite the other two Rajinikanth`s. Raana is now in pre-production stage, the actual shoot is likely to start in March. |

Sonu Sood is on a roll! Though his career as a lead actor never really took off, he has been playing some of the most admired villains, across languages. And now he is getting ready to play baddie to none other than Superstar RajniKanth. The movie is 'Rana'.
Sonu has played a memorable villain (Cheddi Singh) in Salman Khan's 2010 blockbuster 'Dabangg'. He delivered a terrific performance as Pashupathi in 2009 Tollywood superhit 'Arundhati'.
It is not that Sonu is working with Rajni first time he what played a memorable cameo in Rajni's 2005 superhit 'Chandramukhi'.
'Rana', directed by KS Ravi Kumar and produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth, will go on floors soon.

You just can’t stop looking for more on Rajinikanth’s ‘RANA’. The new super star movie is going to be the closely followed movie all this year and even till mid 2012.
We have more revelation for you. Our sources say the cameraman of ‘Endhiran’ Ratnavelu was in particular held back from committing other films by none other than the Super Star himself. It seems Rajini wanted only Randy to wield the camera for ‘Rana’. That’s a real honour for Ratnavelu indeed.
And more, unlike ‘Endhiran’, the new ‘Rana’ will be shot separately in Hindi as well. ‘Endhiran’ was only dubbed as ‘Robot’ for the Bollywood market. So it is certain that Rajini will dub for the Hindi version himself. ‘Robot’ had someone else as Rajini’s voice.
